MASCOT

Created by the comics artist Robert Akeng, Dukduk, the cassowary, is the national mascot since 2006. Dukduk wears the traditional cloth, called sangkuru: the loincloth or hayuli, the headdress or haila, and the strip wrapped around the waist, called talamai, with a small sword called sili.

KAUPELANESE "RAI" MUSIC

 

The Nilauan singer Saramdi Nahifatin is currently one of the most prominent representative of the Kaupelanese popular music, the Rai Music. Her last CD, "Pasainu", was a tremendous success in Kaupelan.
