Yukland is a parliamentary republic. Administratively it is divided in four counties (sjéslur):
 - Suðlændsjésla; capital, Vítgarð
 - Grœnfjœrðsjésla; capital, Grœnfjœrðor
 - Ísmœrcsjésla; capital, Norðhém
 - Gesiðvindasjésla; capital, Fjallmænaðor

Each county has a Legislative Chamber (Sjéslu Hœll), formed by deputies directly elected by the population. The Parliament (Điggshus) has 40 senators (ðiggsmen) with mandate of eight years, chosen by the chambers to represent the county. The prime minister is chosen by the Điggshus for a mandate of 4 years, based on absolute majority of votes.
